Consequences for violations can be serious, such as termination from employment, fines, or loss of professional license, if patient information is shared on social media or through unauthorized means. Confidentiality Laws Private information – patient’s right to control personal health information. An example of this is letting the wrong relatives know that a patient is in an intensive care unit (ICU). Establishing patient privacy is the key to patient trust and safe, effective, high-quality care (Tegegne et al., 2022). Security is the technical protection that will safeguard electronic PHI. Confidentiality: The responsibility not to share information unless it is with those who are directly involved in the care of the person. There are several methods available to control diabetes, and insulin pumps are among those that have been mentioned for being efficient in managing diabetes. This form of insulin delivery by subcutaneous infusion is much more effective than previous methods using more than a single insulin injection. The major advantage of insulin pump therapy for T2DM is its ability to eliminate fluctuations of glycemia and to avoid severe episodes of hypoglycemic and hyperglycemic states. Insulin pump therapy (IPT) is a more physiological insulin delivery system than multiple daily injections (MDI) (BinDajam et al., 2025). In other words, T2DM could be treated better due to insulin pump therapy, which proved to be safe and effective. At the same time, insulin pumps allow getting rid of the delay in the delivery, and telemedicine technologies allow patients to have an instant response to any possible complication. Another reason why I selected insulin pumps as the topic of my type 2 diabetes treatment is that it is a breakthrough technology in the field of diabetes treatment. The evidence was obtained by a thorough search in sources such as PubMed, CINAHL, and ScienceDirect. I employed the keywords: insulin pump and type 2 diabetes, continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion, safety of insulin pump patient, insulin pumps and nursing care, telehealth and insulin pump, and insulin pump and AI. The number of publications was limited to peer-reviewed papers published in English within five years. In the article, several benefits of this type of therapy over conventional insulin therapy are discussed, as many patients do not achieve their optimum A1C levels even using basal or basal-bolus insulin. It also states in the article that a combination of an insulin pump and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) can be used for safer insulin delivery and to minimize the risk of severe hypo- and hyperglycemia. It is important to mention that insulin pumps are able to assist patients in their self-care management process.
